Is Net Client compatible with windows vista? I read some of the requirments on different versions. it appears v. 4.2 might be. I downloaded and isntalled using PID from version 3.1. Everything appeared to install OK however when I enter the Intellex IP's and nothing happens just keeps searching for unit.
My Intellex units are version 3.0 (or 3.1 maybe?)

I know that we did not test it yet... as nobody asked and we should have known to test... I know that American Dynamics has not released any articles about this yet... May be we can beat them and get the answer first
We did run tests with IntelleView remote client residing with Vista and it worked great..
I am sure we will have an answer tomorrow...
By the way, welcome to our forum...
If you have any other questions, please let us know...

I looked a little more on the AD website and found the attached technical bulletin from 2007 saying they are working on Vista issue.
The page about version 4.2 release says its vista compatible.

Hey bud, we will have this answer tomorrow... We will install it on Vista and give you the results...
The specific publication that you are referring is making notation of software compatibility to Vista in the future.. and I did not see a test results from them proving that it is already compatible and if so, what are the both hardware and software requirements...
Tomorrow... for sure!

Ok, here is what got...
To start off, IT WORKS, as long as it is operating with Network Client version 4.1 or version 4.2.
Here are the minimal requirements:
General System Requirements:
1 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron processor or equivalent processor that supports streaming SIMD extensions (SSE)
120 MB hard drive space for installing the software, 10 GB hard drive (local or network) space for video storage.
512 MB RAM
Ethernet 10/100 NIC
AGP or PCI Express X8 graphics card with 64MB memory and DirectX 8.0 support
800 x 600 or higher resolution monitor with 16 bit color
CD-ROM drive for software installation or CD-RW if export to CD is required.
Windows Vista (Business, Ultimate, Enterprise), Windows® XP Home, Windows XP Professional , Windows 2000 Professional, Windows NT® 4.0 Server or Workstation (Service Pack 6a)
Requirements for multi-pane layouts:
3.2 GHz Dual Core Intel Pentium 4 processor
120 MB hard drive space for installing the software, 10 GB hard drive (local or network) space for video storage.
1 GB DDR2 533 MHz Memory
Gigabit Ethernet NIC
High performance PCI Express x16 graphics card supporting DirectX 9.0 and dual independent monitors. At least 512 MB of high speed graphics memory. Four live windows requires two graphics cards and two PCI Express X16 slots.
1024 x 768 or higher resolution monitor with 32 bit color
CD-ROM drive for software installation or CD-RW if export to CD is required.
Windows Vista (Business, Ultimate, Enterprise), Windows® XP Home, Windows XP Pro, or Windows 2000 Professional.
We installed 4.1 version in local Vista machine with SP1 and tested - no problems... and then upgraded to 4.2 version... again, works like a charm..
What version Network Client are you using?

My laptop seems compatible, just purchased it however its Vista Home Premium (not the compatible versions listed).
I am using net client 4.17, everything installed OK, After Entering the IP'S it just says searching then never gets it. The only strange thing is after I enter the IP's it appears to add a 5000 at the end of the IP address, I assume this is just for the comm port however I dont ever remember seeing this before.

Just a suggestion... Please download the latest version for the Network Client version 4.2 here: http://americandynamics.net/support/downloads_20080630_Intellex_NC_v42_Upgrade.aspx and then this one: http://americandynamics.net/support/downloads_20080905_Network_Client_v42_Patch.aspx
This way you have the latest and the greatest version...
As for seeing the :5000 at the end of the IP address, this is the "communication" port that you have to have open at your Intellex side in order to have access to Intellex platform... The ports to be left open are 5000, 5001 and 5003 and each have a specific reason...
Were you able to find out if your Intellex systems were upgraded for Daylight Savings patch and the upgrade to latest available in version 3.2?
I do not think Vista Home Premium matter much... However, what is important is to make sure that you have the SP1 available for Vista... Dependent how old or new the notebook is (when it was manufactured), it may not have it... and please download Microsoft critical updates only..
Let us know the final results and thanks.
