An experienced company in the world of logistics and transportation, Maat Transport in Holland is offering a high secure Truck Parking for regular clients and Trucks passing by. The company wanted to prevent stolen cargo, especially as the parking is unmanned.
There was a need for high security and highly integrated automation. An IP Surveillance Solution with ACTi hardware has been deployed to achieve this objective.
This project was initially proposed as a conventional DVR / Analogue system. However, it soon became clear that a complete IP based security system is the best solution as it offered many advantages in system flexibility and specific functionalities for the truck parking application particularly.
The benefits for IP based security system are:
- Using wireless remote clients: It saves expensive monthly costs for a broadband connectivity provider.
- Scalability: It is able to monitoring more truck parking lots throughout the country and integrate them into a virtual single system
- Interoperability: To interconnect IP intercom, IP access control and alarm in as well, while setting up several zones from the power fence and automatically pan/tilt zoom of the ACTi IP high speed domes to a specific area, connections are made with I/O units over IP.
- Flexibility: To add or change cameras is easy. Two cameras were added during the installation process without extra overhead rather than a DVR system.
- User-friendly Software: Graphical User Interface of the Truck parking for easy control of the system and remote opening of several gates.
- Redundancy: Redundancy of the remote control centre over wireless + DSL
- Monitoring of the complete installation.
The first site of this project including five units of ACTi IP high speed domes and pinhole cameras with two units of ACTi Video Servers SED-2100R in a parking column managed by XSview Video Management.
The reasons to choose ACTi IP Surveillance Solution are:
- Low bandwidth for communication over wireless.
- Full functionality of CAM-6100 IP speed domes.
- WAN and LAN ports are used for network redundancy.
- High speed because of the automatic PTZ functions with MPEG-4 ASP real-time streaming.
