This is yet another common question asked many times on how to export Intellex proprietary video content to Microsoft Media Player .

This Export feature only works when you connect to Intellex using Network Client.

The steps below have been tested and well documented in any Network Client publications and are as follows:

Right mouse click on an Incident in the Database View. Select Export. The Export to AVI dialog appears. Select the size for
conversion. The maximum size of the clip is 640x480 (default). The minimum size is 10x10.

NOTE: Not all Intellex units support the 320X240 image size. The maximum image size for these units is 640X480.

Press the Options button to choose a codec for the export process. The Video Compression dialog appears with a list of the installed codecs. Each codec has its own settings. The default is Microsoft Video 1. This codec produces a fair image quality. After selecting a codec and adjusting its settings, press the OK button.

Check the Enable Overlay feature to emboss the image with date and time information. The minimum size of the image is 160x120 when using this feature.

Press the Save button. Select the location and name of the file to export. Most codecs require a file name suffix of “.avi” (default). Press Cancel at any time to close the converted file and save the export to that point. The partial file export is available for viewing in the specified location.

If you have any difficulties, please let us know.

Elaborating further on Network Client incident exports pertains to the Compression Quality slidebar:

The Compression Quality slidebar is an parameter that allows adjustment of compression (size) vs quality; the default is 65. Sliding the bar to the right increases the video quality but also the file size, and sliding to the left has the opposite effect lowering quality and consequently lowers the file size. Here are a few examples of how the file size changes when increasing the Compression Quality slidebar.

***Note the following results are of a one minute video clip export using the default compression algorithm “Microsoft Video 1”

Compression Quality = 65 File Size = 6.2MB
Compression Quality = 80 File Size = 19.7MB
Compression Quality = 90 File Size = 135.0MB
Compression Quality = 100 File Size = 151.2MB

As you can see the file size can grow quite large when increasing the Compression Quality setting.
